Santa Clara Ruins (Convent and Church) is another iconic spot in Antigua Guatemala, a place you should not miss when visiting the city, its ruins are very pleasant for a stroll.

Located (2nd Avenue in the South, #27) four blocks away to Antigua Guatemala central park is Santa Clara Church and Convent. The entrance fee is around Q40 quetzales (like US$5.50 or so) for foreign visitors. Opens daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. It’s construction began in 1703 and it was completed 31 years, but it was destroyed 40 years later by a huge earthquake.

Amazingly, most of it facade was left relatively untouched and it is still standing strong to these days. The arches and fountain in the central courtyard of this old convent as impressive to see, this is the scenario for many cultural and private events in Antigua Guatemala.
